VCP is developing two major projects of growth: the “Rhombus Project” (Projeto Losango), in Rio Grande do Sul, and the “Horizon Project” (Projeto Horizonte), in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The Rhombus Project (Projeto Losango) prescribes the implementation of a factory of bleached Eucalyptus cellulose that will occupy an area of 400 to 500 hectares in the region of the municipalities of Rio Grande, Pelotas, Arroio Grande, Pedro Osório, Capão do Leão, and Cerrito, in the southern half of Rio Grand do Sul. With operations expected to get under way in 2011, the factory will have a capacity to produce 1 million tons of bleached cellulose yearly.

In the region of Três Lagoas (MS), VCP is building a paper and cellulose factory, with investments for that state estimated at R$ 3 billion. The unit is expected to begin operations in 2009 and its production—estimated at 1.3 million tons of cellulose per year—will be earmarked for export to markets such as Asia, Europe, and North America.
