VCP’s Integrated Management System (IMS) gathers the best practices of all Company units with a focus on quality and reduction of costs. The objective is to integrate all actions and efforts toward the attainment of the best results.
The program follows Votorantim Industrial’s model of the Votorantim Management System (VMS), which defines the principles and common practices to be implemented and shared among the Business Units of Grupo Votorantim.
Since its beginning in 1992, the IMS has gone through different phases, utilizing several methods and subsystems that involve all of its processes in the forest units, commercial units, and industrial units. Phase 1, from 1992 to 1995, involved industrial standardization, ISO certifications, and the standardization work groups.
In Phase 2, from 1996 to 2000, the focuses were on reengineering of processes, IT infrastructure, and new management tools such as TPM and 5S. Phase 3, from 2001 to 2003, involved the revitalization, the QT as a management model, and management by business.
The IMS is currently in Phase 4, whose focus is on management for excellence and the adoption of the best practices (QT, VMS and PNQ).

The Business Intelligence project permits a complete x-ray of the business and a real-time analysis of the external and internal variables and of the conjunctural and structural management. It provides a new technological environment of business management by monitoring risks and simulating improvements and impacts on the performance. It utilizes a database of the SAP, integrated system of management among processes, units and business, already adopted by VCP. In all processes, there is data storage system utilized to construct the Balanced ScoreCard with continuous accompaniment and measurement of performance of strategic goals in all areas of the Company.
Six Sigma
The Six Sigma program is a philosophy of management that relates the number of defects in a particular process to the production cost and the customer satisfaction index. It qualifies and develops the VCP professional in the use of the most modern techniques and statistical software available for solving chronic problems and for attaining challenging goals.
TPM
The TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) Program is applied to enlarge and assure the availability of the equipment and industrial processes. Its guidelines are the training and qualification of the machine operators in techniques of autonomous maintenance and the planning of maintenance activities.
Customer’s Focus
VCP’s Program of Excellence in Customer Focus, one of the main vectors for maintaining the expansion of the business, offers the customer more value, technological advancement and confidence. These initiatives arose from profound research with customers and Company professionals, reinforcing VCP’s competitive differential and its market position. The purpose is to qualify the customer-companies and mobilize them to create differentiated offers for their own consumers and markets. VCP maintains continuous efforts in the development and customization of products, in the understanding and complete dominion of the productive chain and, mainly, in the establishment of long-lasting alliances, with mutual benefits and results.
Alliances
The Alliances Program is geared toward vendors/suppliers and seeks long-term partnerships, converging the business interests. It includes a process of qualification that is aimed at adjusting the profile of the vendors to the practices and policies of the Company, which translates into the reduction of problems regarding purchases of materials and services. The certification is only granted after various requirements have been fulfilled, not only in the aspects of quality and technical/commercial qualification, but also aspects of finance, management, labor, environmental management, occupational health & safety, and social responsibility.
Research and Development
VCP’s Research & Development is driven by the application of the cellulose and paper technology available in Brazil and in the world, with the main mission of transforming knowledge into added value for the Company. For that, in addition to prepared professionals, the Company maintains partnerships with national and international research and consulting institutions that are benchmarks in the sector.
E-business Projects
VCP’s e-business is home to tools that extend productivity and consequently, the chain of value, such as business-to-business, supply chain, e-commerce, customer relationship management (CRM) and Business Intelligence. In addition to Company portals (e-VCP, Portal VCP, and Portal KSR), the Company is a member of the sectorial portal Pakprint.
