VCP’s forests are a source of pride and a differential for the company. They are responsible for supplying the essential raw material for the manufacture of pulp and of paper: eucalyptus wood.

Almost 5 thousand collaborators of Forest Management, consisting of employees and third parties, deal with activities that range from the selection and planting of seedlings to the harvesting and supply of the timber that feeds the plants of VCP.

Investments in genetic melioration, state-of-the-art equipment and training geared toward forest mechanization allow Forest Management to guarantee raw material in quantity and quality for the supply of the Industrial Units.

With a total 260 thousand hectares of forest areas – equivalent to almost 22 thousand times the size of Maracanã stadium  – VCP occupies the position of leading reforester in the State of São Paulo, where it has 197 thousand ha of land, of which 122.4 thousand ha are earmarked for the planting of eucalyptus. The Forest Units employ over 4.1 thousand staff members in the State.

The other 63 thousand ha of forest areas are located in the Extreme South of the country, to where VCP expanded its domains in 2004. With an investment of R$ 160 million, it implemented a forest base in Rio Grande do Sul, which already employs almost 900 people including third parties and company labor.

In November Forest Management launched the Poupança Florestal program in this region, with the objective of stimulating the planting of eucalyptus forests there by means of partnerships with local agriculturists.
